Securing water for the future: Hastings River realignment project

A secure water supply is essential for our communities, businesses and environment. That's why we're proud to deliver this Hastings River project in partnership with client Port Macquarie Hastings Council and our value contractors.

Over time, the river’s natural flow had shifted, lowering the water levels in a key extraction point. This created challenges for council water supply, particularly in low-flow conditions.

Our specialist staff and contractors worked to realign the river, rebuild the riffle crest and prevent further erosion — all while maintaining a strong focus on safety and environmental protection

By constructing a rock wall, reinforcing the riverbank and restoring natural flow paths, we have worked together to help secure long-term water access for the community.

Key outcomes:

• raised water levels to support council water extraction
• stabilised the riverbank to prevent erosion
• enhanced environmental resilience in a high-risk area
• implemented safer construction methods to reduce impact.
