Clarence River riparian rehabilitation project

Want to see riparian rehabilitation in action? The Clarence River riparian rehabilitation project saw our staff and contractors work closely with North Coast Local Land Services, NSW Roads and Maritime, Clarence City Council and landholders to make a difference to this upper Clarence site.

The area had significant erosion issues from boating, land management and natural processes, which were impacting on neighbouring landholders and the environment.

The site was not without unique challenges and issues, and needed some out of the box thinking! Hear from landholders affected by the issues, our project partners and Soil Con staff on how the project will make a difference to the area.

Some of the key work behind the project:

  • 4000 tonne of rock installed over 2km of riverbank
  • 400 roots and logs installed as woody debris, salvaged from the Pacific Highway upgrade
  • 5km of riparian fencing to help prevent further damage
  • seed collection for propagation, planting and maintaining 60,000 native tree and shrub species.
